Lately, my mantra has been: my actions/thoughts should add meaning to my life, if it doesn't, then I will not do it.
So, when I read the following, I thought of a couple of good friends who are actively seeking a mate and seem to constantly run into a dead in. I try to encourage them not to settle for less than they desire just to quiet their need to be in a relationship because often times settling results in regrets.

Why Do I Waste My Time and Energy On You?
By: Shuntai Beaugard
Time and energy are precious commodities. We can never seem to get enough of it or have enough of it. So, why do you continue to invest your precious time and energy into a relationship or marriage that no longer works for you? Why do you continue to invest your time chasing someone that’s not worth what you have to offer? The answer is simple. You’re settling. You are settling for someone that may not show you the love that you deserve. You are settling for the lies, inconsistencies, and disrespect. Oh, I am sorry. He/she maybe stroking your ego from time to time and maybe even putting it down in the bedroom. The sexual love and attention is so good that you disregard your real worth. Or maybe it’s the opposite. They don’t even touch you anymore or even notice you. He or she just tolerates you because you bring something to the relationship; finances, kids or material possessions. It’s probably cheaper to keep you. You are worth more. You need to recognize that despite of what you have been through or the baggage you may carry, you are worth more than what you’re getting. Don’t continue to invest your time and energy into someone undeserving of your love. Life is too short to settle. So, why are you?
Good Luck!
